PDPW’s October training and educational events include:
World Class Webinars, “Global Market: The Impact,” Wednesday, October 12, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Economist Daniel Basse will share his knowledge of world dairy markets to assist farmers and other industry professionals in sorting through agriculture numbers, trends and forecasts. Specifically, Basse will discuss key influencers and the impact their market trends hold around the world. This webinar is open to all interested in the impact of commodity market trends both domestically and globally, including dairy farmers, managers and CEOs, industry professionals and beyond. Calf Care Connection, Tuesday, October 18, Appleton, Wis., Wednesday, October 19, Madison, Wis. and Thursday, October 20, Warrens, Wis. Registration for this one-day workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and training from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hands-on training offers the opportunity to learn from the best, while sharing experiences that will equip attendees with new, practical and powerful calf raising techniques and solutions to protect the foundation of the dairy’s future. A trio of industry leading trainers including Dr. Geof Smith, DVM, DACVIM, from North Carolina State University, Dr. Vicky Lauer, DVM with the ANIMART Professional Services Veterinarian team and Dr. Brent Cousin, DVM, Veterinarian/Manager for Holsum Dairies LLC in Calumet County will challenge the most seasoned calf managers, calf feeders and other key team members that work alongside young stock and newborn calves. The workshop is open to all, but uniquely designed for dairy owners, calf managers, nutritionists and veterinarians and pre-registration is required. Full Press Release.
Food and Policy Summit, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 25-26, Madison, Wis. Day one registration will begin on day 1 at 12:30 p.m., with the Summit starting at 1 p.m. and closing at 6:30 p.m. Day 2 registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with the Summit reconvening at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m.
Joining for one day or both, this important meeting will bring dairy farmers, processors, regulators and allied industry to the table for an in-depth discussion regarding challenges ahead for agriculture and, specifically, the dairy industry. The first day will be dedicated to the voices driving policy and will feature Ben Brancel, the Wisconsin Secretary of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Later in the day, hear from the food panel, representing Dean Foods, JBS USA, The Hershey Company and Grassland Dairy Products, Inc., a consumer panel, and a representative from The Humane Society of the United States. Day two will focus on solutions and discuss animal antibiotics, National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) policies and changes in the Wisconsin DNR regulations, along with updates from Dairy Management, Inc., Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association’s Food Armor® program.
