PDPW Hosts Educational Events and Dairy Industry Meetings in December
Food & Policy, Transition Cow, Leadership, and Economic Trends on Tap for December
 
DAIRY NEWS – From improving cow health and nutrition, to leadership development, and to discussing industry-wide opportunities to build consumer trust, the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) will be offering educational events to dairy farmers and industry professionals this December.
 
As a producer-led group, PDPW trainings and events bring dynamic education in a variety of mediums to help farmers and industry professionals stay at the forefront of issues impacting their businesses, protect their dairy brand, and to be on the leading-edge of technologies and practices for managing today’s high-performing modern dairy farm.
 
December training and educational events include:

  • Dec. 14, Greenwood, Wis. – Media Training, Dairy’s Visible Voice Series (Clark County)
  • Dec. 20, Online – World Class Webinars: Dairy Economic Forecast & Trends
 
PDPW Food & Policy Summit, Dec. 6-7 in Madison, from 12:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 7.  Progressive dairy farmers, industry CEOs, food system department executives and key decision makers and thought leaders will come together in a two-day collaborative event to build a more proactive and prepared dairy meat and milk sector.  A full slate of top speakers – from social science to dairy science, the 10 experts will address some of the most challenging issues for today’s dairy industry — from GMOs, gene editing, hormones, environment, antibiotic use, market access and exports.  Participants can earn up to 9 Dairy AdvanCE CE credits and up to 11.4 UW School of Veterinary Medicine (UW-SVM) CE credits.
 
PDPW Transition Cow Workshop, Dec. 12 in Eau Claire, and Dec. 13 in Appleton, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., each day. Take your transition cow program from excellent to elite at this one-day workshop. Dr. Mike Van Amburgh from Cornell University, Dr. Heather White from UW-Madison, Dr. Katie Mrdutt with Food Armor Foundation, and Dr. John Garber from Valley Veterinary Clinic, will share the latest research on health, nutrition and management techniques that dairy owners, nutritionists and veterinarians can put to work immediately.  Participants can earn up to 4.5 Dairy AdvanCE CE credits, up to 5 ARPAS CE credits, and up to 5.4 UW-SVM CE credits.
 
PDPW Dairy’s Visible Voice® Media Training will be held Wed., Dec. 13 in Kewaunee, and Thu., Dec. 14 in Greenwood, Wis. from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Led by Linda Wenck, Principal at MorganMyers, attendees will learn proven leadership and communication skills to position your business for success, boost your farm’s value to the community, and develop a plan to protect your brand when working with the Media.  This session and future Dairy’s Visible Voice sessions will be held at two on-farm locations, including Pagels Ponderosa Dairy (Kewaunee County Series) and Boon Farms (Clark County Series) on their respective dates.  Participants will earn up to 6.0 Dairy AdvanCE CEs.
 
World Class Webinars: Dairy Economic Forecast and Trends, Dec. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. CT, via online webinar. Dan Basse, economist and president of AgResource Company, will bring his experience and expertise to provide insights on what’s ahead for the dairy industry in the U.S. and around the world.  He will review numbers, trends and forecasts to give dairy producers and industry professionals economic insights as they look ahead to 2018 and beyond.
