Strong, Successful Dairy Teams Start with Good Leadership
January 10 PDPW Effective Leadership Workshop to Focus on Skills that Build Teams, Avoid Conflicts

DAIRY NEWS –  Success in today’s dairy industry requires the ability to engage and effectively lead and communicate in a variety of situations.  Whether hiring and training employees, interacting with vendors and business partners, or answering questions from consumers, your listening and communications skills are on display every day.

Take those skills to the next level with interactive training at the Professional Dairy Producers® Effective Leadership Workshop , part of PDPW’s Dairy’s Visible Voice® curriculum designed for dairy business owners, managers or other key thought leaders within the dairy industry.

The Effective Leadership Workshop will be presented Thurs., Jan. 10, 2019, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin Headquarters at 8418 Excelsior Dr., Madison, WI 53717.

Renea Heinrich, Counselor at MorganMyers communications firm, will facilitate the training session.  Heinrich combines her expertise and knowledge of both the farmer and consumer audiences to work for the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, Illinois Soybean Association, Illinois Pork Producers Association, Michigan Ag Council and other clients.  She currently leads the Illinois Farm Families account team in implementing and managing a farmer image-building campaign targeted at Chicago consumers. The multi-year initiative began with consumer research, and currently includes relationship management, special event coordination, media relations, advertising and digital design and web development.
The session will provide training and practice in the skills to help participants engage and understand others, including:
  • The power of a conversation opener that includes a purpose, invitation and benefit statement
  • How to uncover real motivations
  • How to effectively handle questions
  • Asking vs. telling
  • The value of practice

The Effective Leadership Workshop is a part of the communications and leadership training curriculum, Dairy’s Visible Voice®, presented by PDPW.  The fourth and final Visible Voice program for the 2018-19 program year will be the Social Media Strategy training program on Feb. 7.
