Two Water Quality Tours Remain: Green Bay and Oconomowoc
DAIRY NEWS – The Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) and UW Discovery Farms have two water quality regions yet to explore. Tours will take place Tuesday, June 14 in Green Bay and June 21 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Both Water Quality Tours are open to the public, including business owners, elected officials, municipality leaders, farmers, and citizens who are interested in viewing water quality firsthand. Each tour will focus on the technical science, innovative engineering, and management factors used to ensure superior water quality.
The June 14 Water Quality Tour will begin at Belgioioso Cheese, Inc., 5810 County NN, Denmark, WI, 54208 at 9:00 a.m. and return to that same location by 3:30 p.m. Chartered tour stops include:
The Q&A time on the charter bus time will foster connections with key project collaborators, such as Land Conservation Departments and the National Resources Conservation Service and open lines of diverse discussions, while highlighting the landscape-specific water quality challenges of each region.
Following this June 14 Water Quality Tour, our final tour is set for June 21 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Space is limited, so secure your seat in advance of the charter bus departure. The June 14 Water Quality Tour will begin at Belgioioso Cheese, Inc., 5810 County NN, Denmark, WI, 54208 at 9:00 a.m. and return to that same location by 3:30 p.m. Chartered tour stops include:
- Stop 1: Belgioioso Cheese, Inc. The award-winning cheese maker will showcase their wastewater treatment plant and strict water conservation practices.
- Stop 2: NEW Water Wastewater Treatment Plant. Learn from management as they showcase their phosphorus reduction plan and adaptive management practices, highlighting their collaboration with the Silver Creek Watershed community, to reduce phosphorus.
- Stop 3: Brickstead Dairy. As one of four demonstration farms in the Fox River Watershed this 900-cow dairy is dedicated to superior water quality. Owner Dan Brick is a community leader in conservation, collaborating with other community partners on phosphorus reduction.
