Leadership Training, Hands-On Workshops Planned for Students at 2024 PDP Stride Conference
High School Students Encouraged to Attend Sept. 21 Conference at UW-Platteville
DAIRY NEWS – The 2024 Stride® Youth Leadership Conference, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP), is designed to provide high school students with the skills, confidence and inspiration to step into leadership roles while preparing for their future and learning about opportunities in the dairy and agriculture sectors.
The one-day leadership conference, to be held at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday, Sept. 21, is for students ages 15 to 18. The program will feature interactive leadership training, campus farm tours and hands-on experiences. The conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 6:15 p.m.
“Stride is the perfect fit for high school students looking to build and strengthen their leadership skills while exploring potential opportunities in agriculture,” said Amber Cafferty, PDP marketing and development coordinator. “We’re excited to have Michael Hoffman returning as our program facilitator. His interactive, high-energy style is so well received by students – they’re engaged throughout the entire day and inspired to put their skills to work in their schools and communities after the conference.”
Hoffman, founder and owner of Dallas-based Igniting Performance, Inc., will facilitate the conference sessions to introduce leadership styles and develop skills, some of which include:
The UW-Platteville location will provide attendees with the opportunity to interact with researchers and graduate students during tours of the campus, farm and dairy foods lab. Participants will also visit a lab featuring bio-char research and learn about its potential in the field of nutrient management.

- How to know when you should take charge
- How to provide constructive feedback to others
