Three Tracks of Professional Development for Dairy Farmers and Professionals
 
DAIRY NEWS – Twelve dairy farmers and allied industry professionals graduated from the PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy™, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW) this week after completion of three pillars of learning in the application-based professional development training program.
 
The Cornerstone Dairy Academy was designed to build the skills of dairy farmers and industry professionals who want to lead with purpose, character and integrity.   The Academy features three learning pillars focused on communication, emotional intelligence, professional etiquette, generational differences, integrity and ethical decision-making, Business IQ for Management, and being a global thinker and servant leader.
 
The annual 2019 Cornerstone Dairy Academy began on Tuesday, March 12 and was held in conjunction with the PDPW Business Conference held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. on March 13-14.
 
The 2019 Cornerstone Dairy Academy graduates who have completed the Influential Leaders, Visionary Leaders and Servant Leaders Pillars include:

Over the six years, more than 400 attendees from 26 states and England have participated in the Cornerstone Dairy Academy and have celebrated 30 graduates – those who have successfully completed all three pillars.

Three Tracks of Professional Development for Dairy Farmers and Professionals
 
DAIRY NEWS – Technical skills and education are the foundation for success in today’s dairy industry, but leaders set themselves apart with effective communication, collaboration and decision-making skills focused on building strong teams and communities.
 
The PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy™, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW), is an application-based professional development training program that builds the skills of dairy farmers and industry professionals who want to lead with purpose, character and integrity.   The sessions are designed to provide continuing education to dairy farmers and allied industry wanting to retool or who are at a crossroads in their dairy career.
 
The 2019 Academy will be presented Mar. 12-13, starting with registration at 9:00 a.m., at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.  Applications for the program are due by Jan. 31, 2019 at https://pdpw.org/cornerstone-dairy-academy/.
 
“The Cornerstone Dairy Academy is a tremendous opportunity to build the leadership and decision-making skills that are critical to thriving in today’s changing dairy industry,” said Shelly Mayer, Executive Director and dairy farmer in Slinger, Wis.  “Each pillar is tailored to our attendees needs and includes practical tips to put new skills to work immediately, starting with the PDPW Business Conference on the second day.”
 
The program offers three comprehensive learning pillars, all running simultaneously on March 12.  Sessions in each pillar highlight real-world experiences and provide opportunities for participants to practice skills.
 
Pillar 1: Influential Leaders
Trainers in this session include Trevina Broussard, Frontline Success Training and Consulting; Leontina Richardson, a certified corporate etiquette consultant and founder of Stepping into Etiquette; and Hank Wagner, founder of Wagner Leadership Training and owner of 650 cow dairy in northeastern Wisconsin. 
 
Together they will help participants polish communications skills and establish themselves as leaders by displaying gratitude, confidence and courtesy.
 
Pillar 2:  Visionary Leaders
Trainers in this session include Dr. Richard Kyte, Endowed Professor at Viterbo University, and Dr. David Kohl, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech and renowned dairy economist. 
 
Participants will boost their strategic planning and decision-making skills through observation of global trends, and understanding how ethical standards are the foundation of good leadership.  

Pillar 3:  Servant Leaders
Tom Thibodeau, Distinguished Professor of Servant Leadership at Viterbo University, will lead participants through the ten characteristics and seven best practices of servant leadership, and how this philosophy can build a strong, positive and effective work environment.
 
On Mar. 13, participants will put their newly-honed skills to work at the 2019 PDPW Business Conference, with opportunities to network with key industry influencers and experts, explore latest technologies and learn about newest dairy industry research alongside fellow dairy professionals.

Targeted Leadership Development for Dairy Professionals
Three Tracks Available in PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy to be Held March 12-13 in Madison, Wis.
 
DAIRY NEWS – Leading with professionalism is critical to one’s success in today’s fast-changing dairy industry. The PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy™, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW), brings leading experts to focus on communications, leadership and people-development skills and held Mar. 12-13, 2019, starting with registration at 9:00 a.m., at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.
 
The target of this in-depth training gives participants a strong foundation for their personal and professional growth and development.  The training will provide dairy farmers and allied industry the tools needed to lead with heightened purpose, character and integrity.
 
Three learning pillars will be held simultaneously on Day One (Mar. 12).  Participants select one:
  • Pillar 1: Influential Leaders facilitated by Trevina Broussard, Talent Solutions Consultant and Trainer at Frontline Success Training and Consulting; Leontina Richardson, a corporate etiquette consultant and founder of Stepping Into Etiquette; and, Hank Wagner, founder of Wagner Leadership Training.
