DAIRY NEWS – Succeeding in today’s fast-changing dairy industry requires a higher level of leadership and management skills than ever before. The PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy™, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW), brings together in- and out-of-industry professional development trainers that will give participants a strong foundation to lead their dairy business today and well into the future.
“The Cornerstone Dairy Academy is designed with best-in-class speakers and focused on management topics to hone in on dairy business acumen and change management skills critical to working within a team, managing employees, and reporting to upper management and partners daily,” said Shelly Mayer, PDPW Executive Director and dairy farmer in Slinger, Wis.
The two-day program will be held Mar. 13-14, 2018, starting at 9:30 a.m., at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. Three comprehensive skill paths will be held simultaneously on Day One (Mar. 13). On Day Two (Mar. 14), participants will put their skills to work networking and attending a myriad of educational sessions at the PDPW Business Conference.

The PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy™, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW), brings leading experts to focus on communications, leadership and people-development skills. The target of this in-depth training, gives participants a strong foundation for their future growth. The training will provide dairy farmers and industry professionals with the tools they need to lead with heightened purpose, character and integrity.

- Pillar 1 - Influential Leaders. The foundation of leadership is the ability to clearly communicate and exemplify a good work ethic and trustworthiness with your teams. The sessions will include discovering behavior and generational differences in the workplace, and a number of other key topics facilitated by Trevina Broussard, Talent Solutions Consultant and Trainer at Frontline Success Training and Consulting; Susan Richardson, Founder of Etiquette Essentials, LLC; and, Hank Wagner, founder of Wagner Leadership Training.
- Pillar 2 - Visionary Leaders. Not only do visionary leaders have a clear purpose and see a promising future, they have a solid plan to achieve those goals. Facilitated by Dr. Richard Kyte, Endowed Professor at Viterbo University, and Dr. David Kohl, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech, these sessions will focus on understanding integrity, observing global trends to discover opportunities, strategic planning, and use of economic indicator tools.
- Pillar 3 - Servant Leaders. Tom Thibodeau, Distinguished Professor of Servant Leadership at Viterbo University, will challenge participants to embrace servant leadership to create a positive culture, build communities and empower their teams. He will share best practices and provide tools to focus your team and organization and deliver top-notch hospitality and customer service.
