Behind-the-Scene Insights to Leading Dairy Farms, PDPW Innovation Tours
Brooks Farm & Feltz Family Farms Featured in Daylong Tour, July 16

DAIRY NEWS – From feed pushers with music playlists to community composting partnerships and barn design to retail stores, innovation takes many forms on today’s dairy farms.  As farmers look to improve productivity, animal care and sustainability, as well as strengthen relationships in their community, they are using new technologies and ideas to develop unique solutions.

The Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) host the PDPW Innovation Tours, Tue., July 16, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., departing from tour pick-up site at Fremont Citgo Travel Plaza, E7487 State Hwy 110 (exit 267), Fremont, Wis.

Together, with fellow farmers and agribusiness, learn the innovative ideas, resources and solutions at work during roundtable discussions with host farm owners.

Tour stops include:
  • Brooks Farm, Waupaca, Wis., where Ron Brooks and his daughters are continuing the family’s 160-year farming legacy.  A newly constructed freestall barn features energy-saving ventilation system as well as precision parlor technology and automatic feed pushers with music playlists to prompt cows to come to the bunk.

  • Feltz Family Farms, Stevens Point, Wis., where Ken Feltz and his family welcome tourists to their farm and year-old retail store.  The farm includes both a traditional parlor and robotic milker and enhancements to boost their relationships in the community, including a composting partnership with the village of Plover, Wis.

Over lunch, Ron Brooks and Ken Feltz will participate in a roundtable discussion to share insights and answer questions from attendees.
