Understand Sustainability Opportunities, Challenges and More at Carbon, Crops + Cows Program
PDP to present three repeating workshops on Nov. 12, 13 and 14
DAIRY NEWS – Do you have more questions than answers about what the carbon market means to your farm? Are you curious about the impact cover crops or no-till are having on your sustainability score? What happens to your farm’s data and information when it’s submitted to a sustainability program?
All these topics and more will be covered at the November Carbon, Crops + Cows™ sessions, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP). The one-day, farmer-focused program will bring together experts on carbon market and sustainability reporting, and farmers who have experience in this arena to answer questions and provide actionable strategies to managers of any-sized dairy.
The one-day program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day with lunch and training materials included. The program will repeat at three locations:
Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Miltrim Farm in Athens, Wis.
Wednesday, Nov. 13 at GreenStone Farm Credit Services in Little Chute, Wis.
Thursday, Nov. 14 at Arlington Ag Research Station in Arlington, Wis.
Participants will also learn more about the Your Farm – Your Footprint initiative which is the only farmer-led sustainability initiative that provides dairy producers with the tools and knowledge to understand their environmental footprint and options for the future. The program provides an unbiased, data-protected approach including a comprehensive sustainability assessment, customized farm action plan, peer learning community and financial assistance.
“The Your Farm – Your Footprint initiative aligns with PDP’s mission for dairy producers to learn more about their operation’s sustainability and improve their practices and profitability,” said Shelly Mayer, dairy producer and executive director of PDP. “The Carbon, Crops + Cows program will offer practical steps producers can take right away to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their crops, cows and facilities.”
Presenters will include Carson Dugger, lead agronomist at Eocene Environmental Group, and Courtney Titus, technical services manager at Eocene Environmental Group, to provide insights on the measurement tools, reporting and carbon market opportunities. Dairy producers John Haag, owner and operator of Haag Dairy LLC, in Dane, Wis., and Paul Lippert, co-owner of Grass Ridge Farm, in Pittsville, Wis., will share their insights and lessons learned from carbon tracking and data analysis on their own farms.
To learn more and register for the program, visit www.pdpw.org or contact PDP at 800-947-7379. Carbon, Crops + Cows is accredited for up to 3.75 Dairy AdvanCE continuing education credits.
Follow along digitally in advance of and during the event by following PDP on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) is the nation's largest dairy producer-led organization of its kind, focusing on producer professionalism, stakeholder engagement and unified outreach to share ideas, solutions, resources and experiences that help dairy producers succeed."
