High School Students: Plan to Attend PDP Stride® Youth Leadership Conference at UW-Platteville
Hands-On Workshops, On-Campus Experiences, Leadership Training Set for Sept. 21
DAIRY NEWS – Attending a one-day program could open the door to a new world of opportunities. High school students who participate in the 2024 Stride® Youth Leadership Conference, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP), will amplify their leadership skills while preparing for the future and discovering career possibilities in the dairy and agriculture sectors.
PDP is bringing the annual leadership conference for students ages 15 to 18 to University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday, Sept. 21. This year’s interactive, high-energy conference combines leadership development training with hands-on experiences in dairy foods and bio-char labs as well as a campus tour. The conference begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 6:15 p.m., with training materials, meals and a Stride t-shirt included in registration.
“A key element of leading is knowing how the things you do and say can impact others,” said John Haag, Dane, Wis., dairy producer and PDP board president. “The interactive sessions at the 2024 Stride Conference will focus on giving high school students the tools and skills they need so they can lead in a positive way. The sessions will also provide hands-on opportunities to learn about research at the UW-Platteville campus that will impact our industry.”
Michael Hoffman, founder and owner of Igniting Performance, Inc., will facilitate the leadership development sessions. He will lead teens through the ins and outs of several leadership styles with a focus on knowing how and when to take the lead, how to provide constructive feedback and how one’s leadership style can impact others.
Students will also interact with UW-Platteville experts and graduate students through lab experiences across campus to highlight opportunities in all fields for those with an interest in agriculture or the dairy industry.
The conference is designed for students ages 15 to 18. Registration must be received by Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024.
Students will be chaperoned at all times. To learn more and to register, visit www.PDPW.org or contact PDP at 800-947-7379. Follow along digitally in advance of and during the event by following @dairyPDPW on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) is the nation's largest dairy producer-led organization of its kind, focusing on producer professionalism, stakeholder engagement and unified outreach to share ideas, solutions, resources and experiences that help dairy producers succeed.
