2017 PDPW Managers Academy – Dairy’s Success

DAIRY NEWS – The Professional Dairy Producers® executed the 13th Annual 2017 PDPW Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals™ focused on “Profit Strategies”, Jan. 17-19, 2017, at the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley, San Diego, Calif.

The sell-out training met capacity with 100 in attendance from 15 states including AZ, CA, CO, IA, ID, IL, IN, MN, OH, PA, SD, TX, VA, VT, WI.  The like-minded dairy farmers and other allied industry professionals in attendance received executive-level training on profit strategies for their dairy businesses.

The 3-day training began with the popular out-of-industry tours.  The group was given behind-the-scenes access and met with executives at SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo.  They explored the many key departments and facilities, including the animal rescue centers, out-door aquatic tanks and the sprawling acres where the zoo’s inhabitants roam.  Critical topics around human resources, animal welfare, water quality, brand management and consumer trust were presented and discussed.

This robust training also brought attendees two of dairy’s most well-known agricultural economists, Dr. Michael Boehlje, professor at Purdue University, and Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus at Virginia Tech and President of AgriVisions, LLC.

Drs. Boehlje and Kohl built upon their experiences to discuss strategic management strategies for business success. With three unique sessions, Drs. Boehlje and Kohl prepared attendees with the information and strategies needed to navigate changing economic times.

To learn more about the current Managers Academy the full flyer is available at www.pdpw.org.  Or, follow the experience virtually by following on facebook.com/professionaldairyproducers, Twitter and Instagram @dairypdpw, or by using #PDPWManagersAcademy17.
