DAIRY NEWS – The Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) is set to bring best-in-class educational events to the dairy industry this January 2017. Trainings include the World Class Webinars “Challenges of Naturally Ventilating Cow Barns”, Dairy’s Visible Voice® Crisis Management, Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals™ and the Dairy Human Resources Workshop.
The following are dates and times for these producer-developed events:
World Class Webinars, "Challenges of Naturally Ventilating Cow Barns," Wed., Jan. 11, 2017 from 12-1 p.m. CST. This webinar is designed for dairy farmers interested in exploring effective natural ventilation options for their facilities. Presenting speaker, Dr. Nigel Cook from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine will share research and experiences related to design concepts for optimized air quality, movement and cooling during the summer months. It is a must attend for anyone considering modernization or a building project, as it will help avoid costly mistakes that limit air intake and profit potential.
Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals™, Profit Strategies, Tues.-Thur., Jan. 17-19, 2017, San Diego, Calif. Position your dairy business for success during this high-energy, three-day professional development conference. The training theme, Profit Strategies,” is power-packed with education and life-long learning experiences to grow even the most astute dairy professional, including dairy business owners, CEOs and other top-level executives. Day one will feature an executive meeting and behind the scenes exposure of SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo, while the next two days bring the opportunity to learn from Dr. Michael Boehlje and Dr. David Kohl, two of the industry’s most sought-after business and financial trainers. The tours and training, combined with the chance to rub elbows with some of the brightest dairy leaders from across the country, present high-value continuous improvement in both personal and professional development. Registration is limited to the first 100 attendees.
Dairy’s Visible Voice, Crisis Management, Thur., Jan. 26, 2017 at Foremost Farms USA in Baraboo, Wis. with open registration at 8:30 a.m., training at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. This session in the Dairy’s Visible Voice series, Crisis Management, will help dairy farmers unlock the keys to successfully creating an on-farm crisis plan to efficiently react during a crisis and effectively communicate with the community and media. Join fellow dairymen and women to discuss the various types of on-farm crises, basic response elements and the importance of maintaining consumer trust.
Dairy Human Resources Workshop, “Developing a Team of Eagles”, Tues., Jan. 31, 2017 in Oshkosh, Wis. with open registration at 9:30 a.m., training at 10 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. This one-day workshop, led by Trevina Broussard with Humetrics and Peggy Morrow & Associates in Texas, is intended to help dairymen and women to find the optimal employees for their business, develop those employees to their full potential and implement training and planning procedures for their dairy. More specifically, this highly interactive training will be split into three parts: 1) recruit the best and hire right; 2) develop a team of eagles; and 3) engage, retain and grow key employees. It will also include a dairy producer panel on which fellow dairy farmers will share their challenges and successes in hiring and retaining employees.
