DAIRY NEWS – The Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) announce the PDPW Dairy Dialogue Day Tours, a daylong chartered bus tour exclusively for dairy farmers. The tours provide dairy owners and managers the opportunity to engage in conversation with other leaders looking to improve their own operations. The tour will be held Thurs., October 26 departing from the Best Western, Black River Falls, Wis., at 9:30 a.m. and returning by 3:30 p.m.
The program will be facilitated by Dr. Paul Fricke, Dairy Science Professor at UW-Madison. Topics to be discussed include achieving reproduction goals, optimizing calf growth, developing quality genetics, managing high production, and exploring different types of stall bedding and comfort.
The first tour stop will be at Heller Farms, Inc. in Alma Center, Wis. The dairy is owned and operated by the Heller family and they milk 1,500 cows and operate a methane digester, which produces enough electricity to power the farm and 250 other homes each day.
The second stop, at Selz-Pralle Dairy, is owned and operated by the Pralle family near Humbird, Wis., participants will see how the Pralles utilize SCR activity and rumination tracking systems to improve cow health and reduce drug costs.
Space is limited to the first 50 dairy farmer-registrations and includes bus travel, refreshments and lunch. To learn more about the PDPW Dairy Dialogue Day Tours and to register, visit www.pdpw.org or contact PDPW at 1-800-947-7379.
Dairy Dialogue Day is an accredited training and offers up to 3.75 Dairy AdvanCE continuing education units (CEUs). To learn more or secure credits, visit www.DairyAdvance.org.
Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW) is the nation's largest dairy producer-led organization of its kind, focusing on producer professionalism, stakeholder engagement and unified outreach to share ideas, solutions, resources and experiences that help dairy producers succeed."
