Marathon Co. Farmer Cleared of Animal Neglect Charges

Wisconsin Ag Connection - A judge has dropped all civil and criminal charges against a central Wisconsin farmer who had his animals seized in late 2017 for not providing them with adequate food, water and shelter.

Reports says Marathon County Judge LaMont Jacboson cleared Lance Rogalla of Eland of animal abuse.

In December 2017, the county took 18 head of cattle, two horses and 28 chickens from Rogall's property after he had been previously warned about his animal management practices. But the animals were returned a short time later after witnesses ranging from veterinarians to local a local county Extension agent testified in support of Rogalla in court.

Rogalla's attorney claims that during the time those animals were in the custody of the county, two registered Holstein heifers calves had died.
