Farm Tech Days to Hold Inaugural 'Ag Career Day'

Wisconsin Ag Connection - Middle and high school students who plan to attend the state's largest outdoor farm show this summer can get some valuable information for planning their future career paths. Organizers of the 2019 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days show in Jefferson County will hold the first-ever 'Ag Career Day' on July 23.

"This event is targeting FFA chapters around the state," said Peter Curran, who is a member of the fundraising committee. "Students in grades 7-12 will arrive via buses, called the 'Cheesehead Express.'

Participants will first be invited to the Future Generations Center to start the interactive career scavenger hunt, where they will wear a lanyard that holds a cow RFID tag. Students will then be given a clue sheet leading them through 12 stops in Tent City where they will need to scan their tag with an Allflex wand. Upon completion, they will return to the youth area to write thank you notes and be eligible for prizes.

The trips will be sponsored by FFA chapters and will be provided with free transportation, an Ag Career Day t-shirt and free admission ticket into the show.

For more information, call 608.658.4452 or email peter.curran@plantpioneer.com. Farm Technology Days will be held July 23-25 at Walters Grain Farm near Johnson Creek.
