PDPW Announces Speakers for Weekly Dairy Signal

Wisconsin Ag Connection - The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin says another group of speakers are set to take part in the online Dairy Signal program this week.

On Tuesday, Patrol Captain Paul Marik with the Village of Pleasant Prairie will talk about the realities of human trafficking in rural areas and agricultural labor markets. He'll discuss the signs to look for and how to prevent it from happening on your farm.

University of Wisconsin grad students Dr. Laura Hernandez, PhD, Meghan Connelly, PhD, and Pedro Leopoldo Jeronimo Monteiro will facilitate Wednesday's episode, where they'll talk about new research on the relationship between serotonin and calcium during a cow's lactation and how calcium levels can affect reproduction hormones around calving time and reproductive health long-term.

And on Thursday, Dr. Paul Fricke, a UW-Madison dairy reproduction specialist, will go over body condition scores and the role they play during the transitional period.

All episodes are free and available to the public, accessible from www.pdpw.org. They are streamed live at 12:00 noon or available on demand for later playback.
