Goeser to Serve as VP of Ag Strategy for Sand County Foundation

Wisconsin Ag Connection - The Madison-based Sand County Foundation has hired a new vice president of agricultural strategy. Nicholas Goeser, Ph.D. will be lead the group's agricultural conservation team and set its strategic direction in farmer and rancher engagement.

A native of Plymouth, Goeser earned BS and MS degrees in agronomy, and a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His doctoral research focused on the evaluation of crop productivity, nutrient use efficiency, and nutrient cycling from organic residues within a vegetable rotation.

He joins the non-profit foundation--which is the nation's leading voice for conservation on working lands--with experience in creative research at the intersections of agriculture, conservation, government and academia.

"We are fortunate to secure Nick's leadership," said SCF President Kevin McAleese. "He understands farmers and the agriculture industry, and has a great reputation and proven track record of building a high impact national program."

Goeser previously served as vice president of production and sustainability for the National Corn Growers Association in Missouri. In that role, he led programs, staff and worked with grower-leaders in the areas of corn research, water quality, soil health, climate change and carbon insetting approaches, and broader agricultural sustainability. Goeser also helped launch and grew The Soil Health Partnership as its first Director, bringing the program to 140 farmers across 14 states for national impact in under four years.
