Man Hospitalized, 20 Cattle Dead in Brown Co. Barn Fire

The owner of a farm near Hobart apparently went into cardiac arrest while watching his barn go down in flames late Tuesday night.

According to Brown County authorities, Michael Ambrosius was rushed to a nearby hospital while fire crews remained on the scene to fight the blaze. Another firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

Hobart Assistant Fire Chief Jim Henn says the fire started around 10:00 p.m. in a utility room in the barn.

Crews where able to save about 90 head of cattle, but 20 of the animals did not survive. The barn was considered a complete loss.

The cause of the fire will now be investigated.
