Wisconsin Ag Connection - February 08, 2010
Governor Jim Doyle has signed Assembly Bill 418 into law last week, which requires the state's agriculture department to designate an employee to serve as county fair coordinator.
According to Rep. Amy Sue Vruwink, who chairs the Assembly Agriculture Committee and authored the bill, the move will help maintain the quality of local county fairs around the state.
"We all realize how important are these fairs are to Wisconsin," Vruwink said. "I am very pleased that Governor Doyle felt the same way, and signed this into law."
When the bill was first introduced last fall, Vruwink said having a coordinator was important because it designated some leadership on the state level to ensure local fairs were being run in an orderly fashion.
