  • Jan 4, Greenwood, Wis. – Crisis Management Workshop
  • Jan 16-18, Orlando, Fla. – Managers Academy
  • Jan. 31, Wisconsin Dells, Wis. – Business Transition Workshop
  • Feb. 1, Green Bay, Wis. – Business Transition Workshop

Crisis Management Workshop, Jan. 3 in Kewaunee and Jan. 4 in Greenwood, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  This session, a part of the Dairy’s Visible Voice – leadership development through effective communication, will focus on giving dairy farm owners and managers the skills and tools to manage the media during a crisis.  Exclusive to dairy farmers, attendees will review types of crisis, prioritize potential risks and develop a physical response plan.  The session will be led by seasoned brand management experts, Linda Wenck, Principal, and Judy Rupnow, Senior Counselor, from MorganMyers.  Participants can earn up to 7.0 Dairy AdvanCE continuing education (CE) credits.

2018 Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals, Jan. 16-18 in Orlando, Florida, from 8 a.m. on Jan. 16 to 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 18.  Dairy owners and managers and dairy industry executives will come together for a three-day executive training that will tap into the “magic” of Disney – and dairy.  Training will be led by former Disney executive Lee Cockerell and leading ag economist, Dr. David Kohl.  Together, they will focus on hiring, training and motivating a team.  The program will include behind-the-scenes, out-of-industry tours of Disney to see the parallels of their culture and the dairy businesses.  Participants will also tour the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility in the Orlando Easterly Wetlands and hear from Jim Sleper, CEO of Southeast Milk, Inc.  Up to 16.25 Dairy AdvanCE CEs or up to 19.2 UW-School of Veterinary Medicine (UW-SVM) CEs can be earned.

Business Transition Workshop, Jan. 31 in the Wisconsin Dells, and Feb. 1 in Green Bay, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.  Families at all stages of planning or implementing a farm business transition will benefit from this workshop, led by Nicole Bettinger of The Family Business Consulting Group.  In an effort to provide techniques and solutions to reduce stress, resolve conflicts and keep business fluid, this advanced workshop will focus on starting and successfully holding conversations about tough topics, identifying potential bottlenecks for your farm, and developing strategies to make the transition as smooth as possible from one generation to the next.  Participants will also review a series of case studies to address common transition challenges.  Up to 5.5 Dairy AdvanCE CEs can be earned.
