Register Today for PDPW Dairy Insights Summit
Reducing food waste, increasing sustainability and market access focuses of Nov. 28 event

DAIRY NEWS – Dairy farmers, processors, elected officials and other leading-edge stakeholders will come together at the 2023 Dairy Insights Summit® presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) to learn about the latest information and ideas regarding market access, food-production sustainability and mitigating the staggering amount of food waste across the country each year.
Scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the one-day event features panel discussions, experts from around the globe as well as networking opportunities between members all along the food-supply chain. Registration for Dairy Insights Summit will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the program running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, 706 John Nolan Drive, Madison, Wis.
“Year after year, this program brings to light the topics dairy producers need to know about,” said Brian Forrest, dairy producer from Stratford, Wis. and board chair of event sponsor Dairy’s Foundation. “Sustainability, particularly as it pertains to food production, distribution and waste is becoming increasingly important to the American consumer – and today’s dairy producer is equally interested in these topics. Attending this event is an important step in learning how to better manage our businesses in the faces of rising costs and global uncertainties.”
A panel of global dairy processing leaders will discuss how shifting consumer trends, regulatory policies and more will impact individual producers and the dairy industry. Chad Vincent, CEO of Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, will facilitate the discussion to include the “Writing the rules to the market-access game,” panel discussion featuring James McVitty, vice president of trade strategy, sustainability and stakeholder affairs for Fonterra; Martin Bates, president, global relations and marketing for Dairy Farmers of America; and Ryan Baraniuk, vice president of marketing for Arla Foods Canada.
Tara McNerney, business support manager for Food Loss and Waste will present “Food Surplus vs. Food Waste: let’s talk sustainability” providing valuable insights into the estimated 33 percent of U.S. food that goes uneaten, and highlights some of the projects underway to improve management practices and reduce food waste.

Shelly Mayer, Slinger, Wis., dairy producer and executive director of PDPW will facilitate the “Pioneering innovation and change” discussion with panelists Travis Blomberg, campus resource coordinator for University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Sustainability, and Brandon Scholz, president and CEO of Wisconsin Grocers Association.  They will showcase some of the innovations, technologies, processes and creative thinking currently underway to limit food waste.
Registration fee includes the workshop materials and lunch. Dairy Insights Summit is an accredited training and offers up to 5.5 Dairy AdvanCE® continuing education units (CEUs) for each day. To learn more or secure credits, visit www.DairyAdvance.org.
