Build Leadership Skills, Discover Opportunities at PDPW Stride® Youth Leadership Conference
High School students invited to attend Sat., Sep. 23 program at UW-Madison campus

DAIRY NEWS – A world of opportunities is available to students with interests in dairy and agriculture-related career fields– and those who aren’t sure yet what path they’ll take upon graduating. The 2023 Stride® Youth Leadership Conference presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) will give high school students an opportunity to learn a diversity of careers and build communications and leadership skills that will set them up for success no matter what occupational path they choose.

The one-day conference is open to students ages 15 to 18 and will be held Saturday, September 23, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Stock Pavilion. The program will begin with registration at 9:00 am and conclude by 6:15 pm.

“Connecting with high school students to share the vast possibilities for them within the dairy industry is a huge opportunity for both the dairy community and the students,” said Janet Clark, Eldorado, Wis., dairy producer and PDPW board vice president. “Students are under pressure to figure out what path they’ll take after high school and only beginning to discover the communication and leadership skills they have. Stride is designed to help them tackle both these challenges in a fun and interactive way.”

Michael Hoffman, founder and owner of Igniting Performance, Inc. will facilitate the training program, featuring interactive team challenges and his high-energy style. He’ll teach important techniques to help teens make a greater impression on their world along with methods for them to become leaders with high emotional intelligence as well as strong social, communications and collaboration skills.

The day will also include hands-on labs in food science and soil science with the opportunity to interact one-on-one with researchers, graduate students and industry professionals, all at the world-renowned UW-Madison campus.

Registration must be received by Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023. This program is made possible in part by Professional Dairy Producers Foundation and WE Energies Foundation.
