Join Wisconsin Dairy Families for Tours, Conversations and Ice Cream at 2023 ACE Twilight Meetings
Four dairy producers open their farm doors for tours and discussions
DAIRY NEWS – Curious about how animals are cared for on today’s dairy farms? Have questions about how farmers use water and other shared resources?  Make plans to attend one of four 2023 Agricultural Community Engagement (ACE®) Twilight Meetings hosted by dairy farms in Washington, Rock, Polk and Wood Counties.

The events will be held August 28, 29, 30, and 31, respectively, as a way for rural and urban residents, elected officials, community leaders and more to learn about dairy production and share ideas to address some of challenges that are common across Wisconsin.

“Today’s community members are curious about how agricultural practices impact not just their daily lives but their futures,” said Janet Clark, dairy producer from Eldorado, Wis., and PDPW board vice-president. “ACE Twilight Meetings are the perfect opportunity for any and all to learn firsthand how dairy producers care for our shared resources while producing a nourishing, sustainable supply of dairy products. They’ll meet the dairy farm families, see technologies and innovations used on today’s dairy farms, and enjoy a great evening of conversations, idea sharing and ice cream.”

ACE Twilight Meetings are presented through a partnership between Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), Wisconsin Counties Association, the Wisconsin Towns Association, and Pheasants Forever, with the goal for community leaders, elected officials, educators, conservation specialists, dairy farmers and area community members to connect, network and learn together.

The 2023 ACE Twilight Meeting host farms are:
  • Mon., Aug. 28: Roden Echo Valley LLC, 5545 Cty Rd. Y, West Bend, Wis. Hosted by Bob and Cindy Roden and family
  • Tues., Aug. 29: Larson Acres, 18218 W. State Rd. 59, Evansville, Wis. Hosted by the Larson family
  • Wed., Aug. 30: Horse Creek Holsteins LLC, 2080 20th Ave., Star Prairie, Wis. Hosted by Ted and Gretchen Johnson and Hans and Catherine Johnson
  • Thurs., Aug. 31: Marti Farms, 6603 Grant Rd., Vesper, Wis. Hosted by Travis and Melissa Marti

Each meeting will begin with a tour of the host dairy farm at 6:00 p.m., providing attendees a firsthand look at how animals are cared for, housed and fed, as well as a look at milking facilities, barns and technologies used. Ice cream will be served at 7:00 p.m. with open dialogue about such community issues as water, conservation, roadways and transportation, educational opportunities and more. Meetings will conclude at 8:30 p.m.
